The Moshi Moshi x Zach Angeles Collaboration features a combination of linograph and brushwork. The alternating literary symbols reflect the affirmations sorrounding new beginnings and bittersweet endings, while holding the questions “where do you want to go?” in mind. Following the fashion show linoleum stamps have been dispoed of, allowing this collection to never be replicated.

“X marks the spot where we believe we'll find fortune... A destination marked on a map of our own creation, highlighted in expectation, and only found through dedication..."

Brooke Bennett

(Owner of BB SWIMMIES)

BB Swimmies is an eco-friendly swimwear company based out of Oahu, Hawaii. Run solely by one woman, Brooke. She is the jack of all trades: owner, seamstress, designer, social media manager, etc.

The goal is to create unique, flattering bikinis that help women feel empowered and confident while staying as sustainable and ethical as possible.

“I first began sewing swimwear in 2016 while in college. Living in the mountains, creating swimwear was a way for me to look forward to warmer days.”

Within months of learning to sew, BB Swimmies was born. Every aspect of the business was self taught; sewing, pattern making, photography and more.

“What started as a passion project soon became a quickly growing business.”

JOSUE BARBA

(Owner of CIENTOSETENTA&SIETE)

CIENTOSETENTA&SIETE is a brand with a the mission of designing garments through functionality, comfort and design; applying textiles and Mexican hand in the creation process. We see ourselves in the continuous search to create garments without gender, without limits; silhouettes that have something to say about the one who uses them: “I am the only one who defines myself, and who I am is unique.”

Alliances and teamwork are our backbone, that is where we find growth, on that basis we find each of our collaborators; workshop led by women who are in charge of the preparation and productions of our pieces.

Josue Barba is the founder of this bespoke brand and fashion haus. Together Moshi moshi and Cientosetenta&siete have collaborated on a limited unisex design using the very last of the remaining exclusive denim material from the tsui collection. This unreleased garment will be coming this spring and will play on the construction of the Japanese kendo uniform.

HANDY YAMAKAWA

is a graphic designer from Indonesia. He has a design studio, OCKTOPLUSS, in which he offers services for other businesses such as: logo design services, company rebranding and illustrations for apparel and other products. In addition, he works at a friend’s company, Soluta Media, as a senior graphic designer.

“I have liked drawing since I was little. Previously, i drew using manual methods- mainly painting or drawing with markers. After I became familiar with graphic software and pen tablets, I switched to it because i could express my imagination while saving money on tools as well as to adapt to modern times. “

Kristina Powers

is from Canton, Massachusetts, and currently studies Fashion Merchandising and Management with a minor in business and marketing at Lasell University. She has always had an interest in fashion at a young age and was influenced to pursue fashion as a career by her aunt who has been in the industry for years.

“I believe that if you pursue something you’re passionate about, the rest will fall into place,” says Kristina.

She was introduced to crochet by her late grandmother, Florence.

“she taught me how to crochet blankets when i was little and it was a way for us to connect. What started out as a hobby, turned into a way to keep the memory of her with me every day after her passing.”

At Lasell University, she found herself surrounded by many creative people. Through the influence of these diverse perspectives, she was inspired to use her skills as an opportunity to create designs that people could wear and cherish.

I thank my grandmother for inspiring and teaching me this craft because now I can make crop tops and mini skirts for my friends… but in all seriousness, I know she would be proud.

Throughout her studies in fashion school, she has been cautioned about the ongoing problems with excess waste and overconsumption in today’s society and in the industry itself. In order to fight against the negative impact, Kristina hand-makes each piece to order. There is a purpose for each garment and that in itself is one step to promote “slow fashion.”

Jeremy Tsui

resides in Boston, Massachusetts, but is originally from China. He graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) where he studied fashion and began producing his own commissioned garments.

Fashion is a passion for Jeremy because it's a way in which you can express yourself, influence your silhouette and break the barriers between gender expectations and experiment with unisex apparel. Alexander McQueen and Lady Gaga inspired Jeremy at a young age, and as pop culture and social media flourished, so did his enthusiasm for fashion.

In college, Jeremy received the Paris Fashion Institute (PFI) Scholarship to study fashion in Paris for a month. There he met some of the most influential designers, fashion critics and teachers of all time- including, Diane Pernet, Marco de Rivera and Godfrey Deeny. One of the most memorable experiences Jeremy had was participating as a dresser in one of Rick Owens and Victoria Thomas' fashion shows. From then on he looked up to iconic designers Rick Owens, Yohji Yamamoto and Christian Dior.

Jeremy is one of the first designers to curate a line for Moshi Moshi with one other designer. Jeremy believes,

"Fashion can be a very dark process; for a lot of young designers, we have the desire and creativity, but in order to make a real impact in the fashion industry we need the support, connections, and business brain to make it all work."

William LY

is a Chinese American Boston based fashion designer. Having started out working in the field of finance, his passion for fashion has pushed him to obtain his BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design for fashion design. He was always infatuated by the flamboyant costumes worn by pop artists such as Lady Gaga, to the timeless chic Givenchy dress from Breakfast at Tiffany's, and to the traditional dress of different cultures such as his own. He is also particularly interested in the craftsmanship that went behind each piece of garment, which has helped push him to focus on quality in his own work.

Behind the glamor, he is deeply concerned with the impact fashion has on the lives of the workers behind the scene. During his study at MassArt he was awarded with the opportunity to travel abroad to India for a month to learn about sustainability in the textiles industry. From then, he has always looked at fashion from behind the scenes and appreciates the work that goes into every piece of garment from raw materials all the way to the last stitch . As such he believes ethical sourcing and fair trade plays a huge role for the future of fashion and he looks up to designers such as Eileen Fisher, Sandra Sandor, and Stella McCartney.
